Abstract
This study investigated the semantic category effects on long-term recognition task. Fixed set procedure was used in the experiment, the memory sets varied in memory span (less than 6 items) and out memory span, results showed mean RT increased linearly with set size, the same rate of increase for positive and negative responses. Mean RT of multiple category was faster than that of single category in the same set size, this showed that there existed category effects in long-term recognition task. Furthermore, the slope and intercept of the function of mean RT and set size significantly changed under different memory set conditions.
