Abstract
Five different propositions (one abstract and four concrete) were used to study the difficulty sources of Wasons Selection Task and the effects of metacognitive regulation on task solving. About four hundred college students were tested under two different experimental conditions (one asked to make choices only, the other asked to give reasons when making choices). The results showed that the sources of difficulty were multiple, facilitation effects of metacognitive regulation depended on the using of logic knowledge and pragmatic schemata.
