A Study on Time-perceptual Cues in Visual Motion Information (Article written in chinese)

LIU Ruiguang & HUANG Xiting

Abstract

In this study two experiments were conducted to investigate factors affecting time to contact judgment. The results showed that: When the rate of dilation of the optical contour of the moving object was constant (dΦ / dt = 0), (1) The main time-perceptual information was distance, velocity and acceleration. In some way, visual information played a certain role in the judgment of time to contact. Time-perceptual cues used to control action were usually the results of combination of physical information and visual information. (2) Time judgment showed significant gender effect, men provided higher and more accurate judgment than did women. (3) When the object moved in constant velocity, a linear model was used to fit the data obtained in TTC judgment, which could describe the relation between actual TTC and judged TTC.
