Abstract
This paper presents a longitudinal and transversal study on city mother-infant attachment. 64 twelve-month-old infants were tested by similar Ainsworth Stranger Situation Procedure and Vaughn and Waters Q-sort method. The results indicated: (1) the Discrimination Function of the mother-infant attachment types were similar to that of the classical researches abroad; (2) the different attachment types of mother-infant pairs were consistent in cross-situational and cross-age subject tests; (3) compared with the classical studies on Western infants of same types, the Chinese city infants showed distinctions in some attachment behavior, which were possibly due to cultural-environmental and family parenting factors.
