LI Yun and YUE Wenhao

Abstract

The subjects were 74 normal old People (40 males, 34 females) in the age range of 55-79 Years. The subjects had to pass all the tests that included visual evoked potential (VEP), Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised in China (WAIS-RC), Clinical Memory Scale (CMS), the degree of encephalatrophy in CT, the degree of cerebral arteriosclerosis (D. O. C. A.) and blood pressure. All the results recorded from the subjects were registered into the computer, the computer was used to make the analysis of variance, the multiple gradual regression and etc.

The results showed that: Intelligence and memory were closely interrelated with VEP, D. O. C. A and blood pressure while there was little interrelation with encephalatrophy. The formula to calculate the IQ and MQ in the older people were also studied.

Keywords: visual evoked potential (VEP); intelligence; memory; cerebral arteriosclerosis; multiple gradual regression
