Investigation and Learning Strategies by Non-Biology-Major College Students: DNA Concept (Article written in chinese)

Abstract

DNA is a fundamental and important concept to the biological sciences. All university students (i.e., majors and non-majors) should be familiar with this concept. This research found that only half of the students knew the acronym "DNA", but e ven less knew about its meaning, only 29% of the students knew the relationship between chromosome, DNA and genes. The students that come from different majors were found to have an improvement in response to use of author developed DNA software. A concep t map was used as a tool to help students integrate their learning.
