A Preliminary Study of the Role of Feelings, Understanding, and Intention in a Knowing Mechanism (Article written in Chinese)

King-lien LEE

Abstract

Based on perceptual pluralism, the holistic personality functional system of knowing, as is mentioned in the literature on worldviews, perceptual systems, and scientific attitudes, consists of three essential characters: feelings, understanding, and intention. Moreover, when the three characters interact with each other in a harmonious manner, different aspects of thinking mechanisms are formed. In this paper, because there are many different definitions about feelings, understanding, and intention in both Chinese and Western cultures, I redefine the three essential characters to make them more concrete and operationalized, and propose a dynamic mechanism of knowledge construction through conceptualization and induction by learners. The discussion will provide implications and applications about this new Knowing mechanism.

Keywords: feelings; understanding; intention; knowing mechanism; views of Chinese and Westem
