The Effects of a Learning Experience on Reasoning Skills for Students in Postsecondary Vocational Education Programs (Article written in Chinese)

Abstract

Improvement of reasoning skills for students in vocational education programs increasingly attracts abroad attention because of the explosion of knowledge and technology in recent years. This study was conducted to identify the effects of the Reasoning Skills curriculum on the enhancement of students’ reasoning skills achievement. This study also addressed the auxiliary purpose of investigating the potential elements constructing complicated and abstract reasoning skills. Analyses of the teacher’s portfolios were employed in this qualitative research to observe the longitudinal process of the development of students’ reasoning skills. Significant progress was found in reasoning skills for the students receiving the 18-week innovative intervention. Some suggestions on the teaching activities and assessments are provided for the improvement of these skills.
