Abstract

Educational researchers had addressed the impact of students’ self-regulation ability on their learning outcome. Thus, it was an important issue to propose the effective strategies for framing this very ability in students’ learning activities. However, it is a big burden for teachers to collect and analyze the students’ data while applying traditional self-regulation mechanism with paper-and-pencil approach. Therefore, this study, through effectively recording and analyzing their learning activities, attempt to develop a computer-assisted self-regulation learning system on the internet for students to help them on constructing the self-regulation ability. The system employed the self-regulation mechanism to guide the students to define their own learning targets and strategies, and to advise them via providing personalized feedbacks. The experiment on a computer course has depicted that, our novel approach is effective on improving student learning performance.
