Mao Zedong’s Thought on Reduction of Students’ Academic Burdens: Present Significance (Article written in chinese)

Abstract

Mao Zedong, late Chairman of CPC, made a lot of explication on the reduction of students’ academic burdens and the care of students’ psychological and physiological health, which exerted great influences on the development of China’s educational cause after the establishment of PRC in 1949. To guarantee students’ active and healthy development, Mao Zedong’s thought on reducing students’ academic burdens is centered on such aspects as simplification of curriculum and teaching materials, replacement spoon-fed way of teaching with elicitation method of teaching, and reform of examination and evaluation methods. Mao Zedong’s above thought is of important enlightenment to the present educational reform in China.
