Bringing Senior Faculty on Board the Technological Revolution: One Model

Clement A. SELDIN & Peter SELDIN

Abstract

Colleges and universities are in the midst of a technological revolution. Many professors — especially those of junior rank — have readily implemented computer technology in their teaching. But other professors — often those of senior rank — have turned their back on the technological revolution. Why? Often the answer is found in their lack of broad-based computer skill. This paper provides one model of a peer-mentoring program designed especially to assist senior faculty to develop the skill and experience needed to incorporate more computer technology in their teaching.

Keywords: Faculty computer training; Peer-mentoring; Senior faculty
