Huey-meei WU

Abstract

This article reports the results of National Chiao-Tung University library’s user survey which was conducted in December. 1995. The major findings are (1) The ratio of undergraduate and graduate users is almost the same as that of the registered graduate and undergraduate students. (2) Library users, according to their behaviors of library usage, can be divided into three groups, namely undergraduate students, graduate students, and professors. The major activities for undergraduate students are Chinese publications reading and self studying, the major activities for professors are Western publications reading and articles copying, and the major activities for graduate students include all mentioned above. (3) The rank corresponding to the library service satisfaction, from the highest to the lowest, is the graduate student, the undergraduate student, and the professor. These three user groups have similar satisfaction about the library OPAC system, network system, and the rules related to borrow books; but have different opinions about which services need to be improved.
