Towards a New Paradigm of Resource Sharing: The Interaction Experience between Mirror Site and Consortium in Taiwan Context (Article written in chinese)

Abstract

By application of the electronic publications and Internet, it is a tendency to provide the just-in-time and on-demand information service. The extension of library service is also affected by this trend, especially for the electronic resources. To overcome the issue of slow speed and limited bandwidth on network, libraries in Taiwan take a strategy in adopting the mirror way to improve the quality of electronic information and resource service. It is required to take a serious survey against by several evaluation criteria to ensure whether the mirror is a workable solution. This paper is intended to discuss the current status of mirror site of electronic databases in Taiwan’s libraries by following perspectives: an overview of library service and future trend, definition of mirror, background issues in establishing mirror site between foreign and Taiwan, evaluation criteria of mirror site, support and coordination of consortium, experience of Academia Sinica, as well as conclusion.
