Will Information Specialists Lose Their Work in the Future?

Abstract

Internet gives users more broad space, and they can retrieve the relevant information at home. Does they still go into information institutes? First of all, we should make clear the essence of information retrieval, and the factors that effect the retrieval quality. Secondly, the author affirms the superiority of Internet, including the rich in information resources and the swift in information transmission, and at the same time he analyze some insufficient networks retrieval, which can’t meet deep needs of the users. At last, the article points out that information technology can’t solve all questions, and the information specialists still have their place in the future, but they must make their position new. Information retrieval should develop towards the depth and the scope.
