Internet Resources Cooperative Collection Development in Medical Library (Article written in chinese)

Abstract

Internet has been well-developed and utilized, collection developments for both periodicals and databases and how to share the resources among libraries should be handled and organized by a national institution, such as National Central Library or Science & Technology Information Center. Then other libraries can take the advantages of Internet to collect and organize the valuable information by topics and subjects. It will not only utilize the virtual resources, save time for reference librarians but also help users to locate the information much easier and faster. As a side benefit, the traffic of Internet will also be decreased. Therefore under the present situation of shortage of manpower, high price of periodicals and databases, how to utilize and organize the resources from the Internet has become a possible way to achieve the purposes of collection developments and sharing resources. This article will present few models of medical libraries in the U.S. and European countries as our reference.
