Application of Information Science to Archaeology: The Databases for & Analysis of Artifacts by the National Museum of History Japan, as the Thesis Foundation (Article written in chinese)

Abstract

The utilization of computers and network technology in as well as the application of Science to archaeological research have been common for these twenty years. Although such the climate is ready for anthropologists, and the provision of data and information could be necessary and desirable for the future in-depth research, the process of converting material data containing the culture of people in the past from archaeologists’ analytical results to machine readable form is much influenced by various human factors. For both archaeologists and information specialists, improving the objective validity of recognition and reconstruction of the past basically through language might be the most basic work. Also, scientifically analyzed but quantitatively limited archaeological material records on the network should become one of efficient sources satisfying the information needs in the efficient manner.
