Designing a Web Site for a K-12 Christian School: Application of Principles of Visual Literacy and Information Science

Marcia L. CAMILLERI

Abstract

Principles of visual literacy, design, and library and information science are applied to the development of a Web site for a K-12 Christian school. The creation of a Web image for the school requires analysis of the prospective site’s purpose and audience, which influence decisions regarding the use of images, text, backgrounds, colors, and page layout, as well as technical and navigational considerations. Making the site valuable to its intended audience entails the inclusion of relevant, organized, and easily accessible information. The decision-making processes involved in the design and development of the site are described.
