Ruey-ming CHAO & Wan-yu CHAO

Abstract

At the beginning of the 21st century, the use of computer-based information technology in traditional education and distance education programs keeps evolving at a rapid pace in all areas of the world. With the development of computer technology, information is becoming more accessible and transmittable. With the evolution of computer-based information technology, one of the most significant trends in education is the rapid growth in distance education programs. This paper examines the roles of teachers in facing the new technology challenges and determining appropriate teaching strategies. It provides different aspects of preparation for teachers who are interested in online courses. The intent of this search was to find a significant link, of an information technological nature, between the distance education process and the traditional education arena. This was motivated by an interest in what possibilities the future holds for online course technology, and with the assumption that advances in information technology are currently and will continue to be a major driving force of change and development in distance education.
