Library Paraprofessionals: The Key to Success

Abstract

Paraprofessionals play a large role in the success of today’s libraries. This speech was presented at the 2001 Florida Library Association Conference at the paraprofessional’s interest group session. The importance of the relationship between library staff and the community that they serve is the main focus of this paper. Examples on how support staff make an impact on the lives of others is discussed. Support staff concerns about getting ahead and earning respect are addressed.
