The Value of Exhibition Catalog for History Museum: Evaluating from Introductory Words in Chinese Jade Exhibition Catalog in English (Article written in chinese)

Abstract

With considering the difficulty problems of visually received information transforming into knowledge at museum exhibition sites, the author takes Chinese jade exhibition catalogs in English as examples, assuming the information those catalogs provide and the value those deposited in libraries are efficient means for further education and research. By categorizing the contents of acknowledgements, preface, foreword, and introduction in the catalogs, this study sums up these characteristics and history of the contents as well as analyzes how the contents influenced by history of Chinese jade studies and the nature of the material, and emphasizing the catalogs in written language is still a stronger explanatory tool as well as providing the cultural and artistic background of Chinese jade.
