Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to provide the design principles as well as required contents of the computer-related curriculums for the Teacher Education Program of elementary schools in Taiwan. Although the Ministry of Education in Taiwan declared that we are going to practice “Implementation of Guidelines for a 9-Year Joint Curricula Plan for Elementary and Junior High Schools” in 2001, until now, Teacher Education Program of elementary schools belonging to the universities or colleges do not have the standard curriculum design about the computer-related curriculums. If these preservice teachers in Teacher Education Program did not have the appropriate training of integrating the computer literacy into the curriculums before being a teacher, how could we expect that they will have the ability to integrate the computer literacy while they are teachers? Therefore, in this study, the authors want to find out, what elements or literacy essential to the curriculums associated with computer are needed in the Teacher Education Program of elementary schools.
