University Publishing in Taiwan from 1990 through 2003: A Survey Based on the ISBN/CIP Database (Article written in chinese)

Abstract

The ISBN system has been implemented in Taiwan by the National Central Library since July, 1989. The establishment of the ISBN Center in 1990 is obviously of a fundamental landmark for the standardization and internationalization of publications in Taiwan. The survey based on the ISBN/CIP bibliographical database from the ISBN Center and focused on those ISBN/CIP applicants who were under the name of university press alike or any affiliated departments of university, analyses the number of book titles, subject areas, type of university publishers and other existing features. Several suggestions are given to conclude that universities should endeavor to be a vigorous publishers.
