This study intends to find out why librarians lack of authority and power. The author compares librarians with physicians and lawyers in the following parameters: their learning contents in the professional school, and the legislative protection of the three professionals. The curricula of various medical schools, law schools, and library schools in Taiwan are analyzed, and the legislative nature of the three professionals are compared to see the differences. The conclusion shows that librarians are inferior to physicians and lawyers in their professional knowledge and legislative protection.
