SURVIVING AN AMERICAN PH.D. PROGRAM*

Abstract
The author describes her personal experience in the Chinese and American universities and how she survived an American Ph.D. program. Her judgment of the differences between Chinese and American educational systems is: American systems cultivates creative thinking and active learning while Chinese system emphasizes solid foundation and meticulous teaching learning approach.
