The coming the Digital Era enables the communication of multimedia. This change, in turn, promotes human's needs and dependence of multimedia data. The traditional text-oriented database and data-searching systems is unable fulfill the demands resulted from this change. In this paper, the authors first argue the inappropriateness of using text-oriented data-searching methods in image database. Next, the methods of image data searching is introduced. Finally, the authors wrap up this paper with a brief suggstion to the future research and development in this topic.
