A Research Study for the Leadership Competencies Assessment of Presidents in Technological Colleges in Taiwan (Article written in chinese)

I-Jun CHEN & Lning CHU

Abstract

The main responsibility of a leader is to reach the goals or to gain the benefits for the whole group. To face the challenges and impacts from a multi-cultural system, and to manage a school successfully by communicating with each sub-unit and implementing policies effectively and efficiently is the major issue for school administrators to discuss. There have been many research studies regarding leadership, both in Taiwan and other countries; however, only a few can clearly indicate how to improve or train leadership. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the leadership of the presidents of technological colleges in Taiwan, from the readiness, leadership roles, and leadership values perspectives, by adopting the Baker III’s (1996) Leadership Competencies Assessment Instrument. The results of this study will be a valuable reference for the technological colleges’ administrators in Taiwan.
