Motivation Responses of Student Performance with High-Stake Testing: Using Qualitative and Simulating Approach (Article written in Chinese)

Abstract

This study focused on overall system of simulating motivation responses of student performance. Using qualitative (system thinking) and quantitative (system dynamics) approach to transfer Roderick and Engel’s paper (2001) into a conceptual and a mathematic models. We found out that structure of the system was composed of three reinforced loops (self efficacy, meaning of learning, and effort increase resources loops) and an effort balanced loop. Different viewpoints including time, fairness, matching level between policy and learning goal, and student’s characteristics also used to discuss their relation with student’s learning behavior.
