Abstract
At present, the compilation and research of Chinese dictionaries has already reached a high level. It is now facing a new breakthrough which, in the author’s opinion, should begin with the research into the dictionary frame. Just like other kinds of dictionaries, a Chinese dictionary has its own frame. But this problem has never been mentioned before, nor has it been studied by anyone. Why? The purpose of this article is to explore its causes and reveal that the frame and its mechanism has very important influence on compiling a Chinese dictionary. The author proposes building up and strengthening the consciousness of Chinese dictionary frame and thus improve the overall level of our dictionaries.
