Abstract
This article consists of two parts. Firstly, it provides a survey on articles about Chinese language teaching and learning, which were published in our countrys four major related periodicals. The data showed that only a few of these studies used empirical research methods. Secondly, this article provides an introduction and discussion of five common quantitative or qualitative methods for second language acquisition, including the experimental, correlational, survey, case study, and observational method.
