Abstract
The article introduces the major contents of the serial lectures on computational linguistics jointly sponsored by Beijing Language Society and the International College of Chinese Language and Culture of Renmin University: (1) The background of the appearance of the computational linguistics — the demand from the development of computers and linguistics; (2) The Chinese language information process, the automatic word recognition and computational linguistics; (3) The development of the computational linguistics proves many research results of the traditional grammar are correct, and rich of vitality; (4) Certain ideas and principles-something should be attached importance to in modern Chinese research, facing the challenges from computational linguistics.
