On Capitalized or Uncapitalized Transliterations in Modern Chinese Dictionary (Article written in chinese)

ZHANG Jun

Abstract

The departments concerned of the Chinese government have issued a series of stipulations or rules about the transliteration of Hanyu Pinyin, including the Basic Rules for Hanyu Pinyin Orthography as one of the national standards. However, there are still some words transliterated against these stipulations or rules, or self-contradicted among some words in the revised edition of Modern Chinese Dictionary. The author points out many examples of improperly capitalized or uncapitalized transliterations in Modern Chinese Dictionary, and suggests that they be rectified in the next edition.
