Abstract
Language is the carrier of its culture. As an important element of language, words and phrases carry the sediments of history, reflect the light of culture and are tinctured with various passions of people. In analyzing the folk semantics of some Chinese words, the paper points out cultural differences and cause of conflicts in the hope of facilitating cross-cultural communication.
