Errors in Headlines of Journalistic Writings (Article written in chinese)

Abstract

This paper points out various errors in journalistic writings in the following aspects: (1) There are misused characters and occasionally some characters are missing; (2) In terms of vocabulary, the errors are misunderstanding of meaning, unnecessary repetition of meanings, coined words, incorrect reversing of words, improper abbreviations and misuses of form words; (3) In terms of grammar, there are incomplete elements, improper collocations, mixture of sentence patterns and ambiguity; and (4) In rhetoric, there are wrongly chosen sentence patterns. The seriousness of errors in headlines calls for attention to the standardized use of language by the press.
