Abstract
非常 in phrases such as 非常男女、非常可樂 has become a very common linguistic phenomenon during the last few years. «D±`-phrases go into two groups in terms of form: “非常＋NP” and “非常＋VP”. In most cases, with but a few exceptions that keep its original meaning, 非常 in the 非常-phrases means “extraordinary”. This phenomenon came into existence as the result of the trend of pursuing newness and simplicity, popular assimilation and analogy in language use. The study of this phenomenon will deepen our cognition and understanding of certain developing patterns of language.
