Abstract

Being a basic instrumental course, Chinese functions to cultivate and enhance students’ ability and skills to obtain and process information of their mother tongue. The incorporation of Chinese information-processing techniques and methods into the Chinese course at primary and middle schools will give impetus to the modernization of the teaching of the course. This paper is an introduction to statistics and analysis, using Chinese information-processing techniques, of the distribution of characters and words in the texts of Chinese courses at primary and middle schools. The statistics and analysis are significant to the pedagogical research and textbook writing.
