Abstract
This paper is mainly a description of the relations between the exterior features and their corresponding testing grades (3 grades divided into 6 levels). Through detailed expounding of these relations, the author, based himself on five year practice, attempts to prove the reliability of the grading standards in the Putonghua proficiency tests. It is necessary for the tester and trainer of Putonghua to have a clear understanding of these relations, so that they can use the grading standards properly and enhance the Putonghua proficiency of the students.
