Abstract
The existing software used in classical literature sifting are basically mutually closed and incompatible, and are not intended to be open to each other. Most of them show themselves as results of rather than tools for classical literature sifting. There lies the need for the development of universal software for classical literature sifting as a whole. This paper has made some suggestions about functions that such a software should have and discussed about the compilation of the dictionary in this software which is characterized in the following: the selection and arrangement of meanings and explanation of entries, the use of citations, transcription of characters and marking of character attributes. The compilation of and the study of guidelines for the compilation of such a dictionary are a new task for exegesis.
