Abstract
Based on a questionnaire answered by students concerned, this article focuses on the importance and meaning of news listening and reading in the Chinese curriculum system at the advanced level. It aims, in the light of teaching practice, at probing into the characteristic features of the teaching of news listening and reading which is distinguishable from that of ordinary listening and reading. It proposes six principles for teaching Chinese news listening and reading and explains the basic requirements and methods for teaching this course.
