On the New Loan Word-forms in Modern Chinese (Article written in chinese)

LUO Yuyan

Abstract

This paper deals with the new loan word-forms directly using foreign letters. On the basis of dividing them into different level groups, we put forward our suggestion on the criteria to classify new loans of this kind in modern Chinese, and, after comparing the two writing systems of various languages, i.e. those using straight lines and those using curve lines, we then attempt to find the “newness” of these new loans and the possible influence on modern Chinese in terms of word-formation and pronunciation. Finally we discuss the correct attitude we should take towards this kind of loans.

Keywords: modern Chinese; new loan word-forms
