Review of Speech Accommodation Theory (Article written in chinese)

LIU Zhengguang

Abstract

In its nearly thirty years of development, speech accommodation theory, originally a socio-psychological model, put forward by Giles et al. in the early seventies of the last century, has offered a large body of fruitful research results and instructive ideas for sociolinguistics, communication study, pragmatics, discourse analysis, as well as (second) language acquisition and has become an interdisciplinary theory of great importance and explanatory power. The paper is intended to give a review of both its development and issues to be further studied.
