Abstract
This article discusses the characteristics of Chinese idiomatic expressions, and its relation-discrimination as compared to set phrases, two-part allegorical sayings, and proverbs. It also explores the use and development of idiomatic expressions, with a running-through discussions of the standardization of idiomatic expressions.
