Abstract
The classification of Chinese word variants helps illuminate their formation pattern and evolution trend. Word variants with character component variation is a basic type of word variation in Chinese, occupying about 25% of the total. The research of the standardization of such word variants is an important branch in the study of the standardization of word variation. This article attempts to analyze the evolution trend and its cause of this type of word variants and to put forward the general principles of their standardization.
