Huanggang Dialect as Spoken by Students (Article written in Chinese)

Abstract

There exists certain difference in consonants, vowels and tones between the original Huanggang dialect and its variant as spoken by students. Students’ Huanggang dialect has changed a lot as a result of influence from Putonghua. The pronunciation of some characters in students’Huanggang dialect have become close to the Putonghua and there have emerged some new vowels and syllables. These changes are the developing tendency of Huanggang Dialect.
