Abstract
The correlation analysis between the strategies for learning Chinese characters and the character test scores of the CSL (Chinese as a Second Language) beginners show that: 1) Applying Chinese characters in reading and writing is greatly helpful in learning Chinese characters; 2) Memorizing the character shape as a whole or writing the character mechanically might not be effective in learning Chinese characters; 3) Using radical components to learn Chinese characters is effective; 4) The studying of pictophonetic characters is more related to the strategies than that of the non-pictophonetic characters.
