Abstract
A number of compositions written by oversea students show that the accomplishment of their using Chinese words in their articles is not as successful as expected. The article holds that the theory of the text linguistics can open up a new path for the vocabulary teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Text-based vocabulary teaching on has its sufficient theoretic ground and practical significance. Therefore, it is not only essential, but also feasible.
