WANG Chengyu

Abstract

With a quantitative approach, the paper discusses the informational quantity of coordinate titles of research papers in order to have a clear idea about the informational patterns between the items of the titles and the text. Theoretically speaking, the items of coordinate titles should be equal in informational quantity of the text. In fact, there are four distributional types: 1) equal information; 2) first item deviation; 3) last item deviation, and, 4) special distributional type of the informational quantity of “jigi”. The writing aim is the main cause of the deviation of informational quantity. Different types of deviation are caused by the contradiction between the writing aims and the sequence of the items. Coordinate signs, complex or simple of the co-ordinate items, and order of the items are also reflected in the informational quantity of the titles and the text.
