Abstract
In order to have a full account of the Chinese language modernization, linguistic awareness and cultural awareness should be linked together to develop a concept of “linguistic-cultural awareness”. Linguistic awareness concerns the form of language, while cultural awareness concerns the content of language. Content includes true or false in meaning, good or evil in moral sense, beautiful or ugly in artistic aspect. A questionnaire survey was conducted to explore the linguistic-cultural awareness.
