Abstract
This paper selects 665 university names from a book named a guide to Shangdong colleges and universities. The names are classified into different types of semantic structure by using quantification method. A detailed analysis is given from various angles: psychological needs in obtaining information, semantic element, law of unbalance in linguistics and combinatorial probability in maths. Based on the analysis, the deep reasons are revealed for different types of semantic structure.
