Abstract
This article regards the structure 簡直 (simply) + 是 (to be) as the typical pattern of the 簡直 (simply) sentence system and other structures as its variants. Based on a statistic analysis of sufficient real language data, the author investigates the syntactic, semantic and transformational relations between the typical pattern and its variants of the 簡直 sentence system, and further discusses the 簡直 (simply) sentence from the semantic and pragmatic perspectives.
