Abstract
The fast development of new information technology brings out the digital gap around the world. The digital gap produces greater inequality among languages and threaten the survival of many. In the language competition of the information age, the Chinese Language has its advantages as well as disadvantages. China needs to make explicit strategies in its language policy. By popularizing Putonghua and its phonetic solution of the Pinyin system, perfecting the normalization and standardization of the language use and the writing system, we will strengthen the status of Chinese. By our fast development in language information processing and the building of online language database, we will win more virtual space on the Internet for the Chinese language. By an array of publicity activities to promote the use of Chinese in the international community, we will make Chinese play a more important role in the international language life.
